We are on a continuous journey of improvement and transformation but our main priority is, and always will be, providing safe and high quality care to our patients every day; the kind of care we would want for ourselves and our loved ones. If you share our passion then apply for this opportunity and help us make our patients’ experience the best it can possibly be.

With a budget of around £270m, three hospitals and 5,500 staff, North Tees and Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust provides hospital-based services to the population of Hartlepool, Stockton on Tees and parts of East Durham and Sedgefield as well as community, therapeutic and screening to a wider population across Durham and Teesside.

Applications are invited for Consultant Histopathologists to join the Cellular Pathology department at North Tees and Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust. The successful candidate will become part of a team providing diagnostic services to the clinical specialties within the Trust, General Practitioners and local regional network. The cellular pathology laboratory is based at the University Hospital of North Tees.

We have close links with our tertiary referral centres at the Royal Victoria Infirmary, Newcastle and the James Cook University Hospital, Middlesbrough.

Applicants must hold FRCPath (or equivalent) and hold specialist registration (candidates within 6 months from specialist registration are also invited to apply). Candidates who can report a broad range of general histopathology are invited to apply. The department supports cervical, breast and bowel cancer NHS screening programmes. The successful candidate will complement and strengthen the existing team of consultants in a very friendly and forward thinking department with an opportunity to develop a specialist interest. For full details of the post please see the job description.

The opportunity for the appointee to participate in the autopsy service is available but not a requirement of the post.

Application is via NHS Jobs, please fill out the short application form & attach your CV to your application. Applications without a CV attached will not be considered.
